    Default What's your oldest system?

I can recall my father showing me how to use punch cards, but the oldest system that I ever had that was mine was a Commodore 64. I worked on a TRS-80 before that, but it was my brothers. I can remember peeking under my parents bed at Christmas time and seeing the big pixelated finger on the side of the Commodore box and was thrilled beyond belief. I loved doing programs on it and never thought a thing about how much work it was. It's funny thinking back on that today.

Anyway, what's your oldest system and memories of it?
    "There's a non-zero chance of that occurring."

Vic 20, man! More vintage computer talk after I contend with the evening's deadlines.

I suppose it would be the TRS-80 Color Computer with 4K.

Though we did have Sears Tele-Games, and before that, Pong.

...Since I already detailed this on another thread, here's a question for you kids: how many of you have ever used a slide rule?

Oh, man, I think I had to once in junior high or something... though even then they were starting to fade away. I remember the other geeky kids showing off how many features their pocket calculators had later on...

...I actually learned how to use one in junior high, but when I hit high school Radio Shack offered this calculator that did the basic trig functions for only $16.00, so I bought that and it got me through until Texas Instruments put out the calculator that everyone agrees buried the slide rule once and for all: the TI-30. And the fact that it came with a carry case with a belt loop just like a slide rule didn't hurt one iota either.

This is going back a bit, but my earliest system was a Grandstand Pong game system - you plugged it into your TV and it had 4/5 different variations of PONG that only played in black & white.

    Then I got a Sinclair ZX81 - I used to love playing 3D Monster Maze: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kEB-MXM0qM"]YouTube - 3d monster maze[/ame]

Then I moved up to an Acorn Electron, then swiftly to a Commodore 64... Finally found my gaming heaven in the NES, which I still have today

Only when trying to convince an ex-girlfriend that size doesn't matter
