Default The First Appearance Of Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead For 99 Cents On eBay (UPDATE)

Okay, this could be an interesting one.

Someone trying to sell the copy of the Diamond Previews catalogue withthe listing for Walking Dead #1 as the first appearance of the comic book. Which, technically, I suppose it might be. Though currently at 99 cents on eBay, no one is biting. Yet.

It does however include that "Walking Dead is TM and (c) Robert Kirkman & Tony Moore" line that caused certain legal headaches in recent years.

As a piece of archival history? How much?

UPDATE: That was fast! Suddenly up to $23. This is now a genuine collectible!

    $23.49 and reserve not met.

Truly a sucker born every day.

Also: I have "The Agents" #6 lying around here somewhere. Huh. Never noticed that it had a TWD preview in it (not that I'd part with it as it was a good series).

I'm suprised no one call this a ripoff of 28 days later.

Those sheep and lemmings paid for my trip to NYC last year. I love them!

Holy shit. That is insane. Pretty sure I pulped any old previews I had in the recycling bin years ago.

Maybe Tony Moore's buying it so he can constantly show Kirkman that copyright notice.

But yeah, I threw mine out also after I had seen all the books I ordered in it were actually here.

The only thing WD has ever ripped off of 28 Days Later was Rick waking from a coma way back in issue 1 for the opening scene but seeing as how we're 100 plus issues in and far removed from even that similarity I'd say WD is pretty safe in it's uniqueness (well, as unique as a story featuring the well travelled route of zombies). The zombies don't run in WD, the main character is a cop, not a young teen capably acted by Cillian Murphy and lacks Selena (tho' we do get Michonne). If anything, you could make a slight case for World War Z in some of the more current aspects but overall, WD is it's own thing.
