    Default Japanese Toys

I'm a big fan of Tokusatsu (Japanese special effects) - from things like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai (Japanese Power Rangers)

Liking those shows, I've been collecting some of the toys from the various Super Sentai series. Usually that entails getting what they offer in Power Ranger wrapping.

Well, this year I went a different route and have been ordering the toys straight from Japan. I've been trying to get all the major robots of "Samurai Sentai Shinkenger"

I just recieved the latest of these toys, Daikai-Oh - A lobster that turns into a robot.

Anyway, besides that, is there anyone else that buys Japanese toys? Wether you buy them direct from Japan or just from stores. What kind of stuff do you get?

I think I have a couple of Japanese mecha...the YF-21 from Macross Plus and a green gorilla Zord from Gaoranger (Jungle Fury?). Most of my eBay acquisitions from that neck of the world are knock-offs of Transformers, but I couldn't tell you which country they originate from.

I buy a lot of anime-related stuff (Haruhi, Lucky Star, Yotsuba&!).
I buy them either at the shop I'm working for or order then via Hobby Link Japan. Fast delivery, huge selection and fair prices.

I hate going to anime con dealers rooms and surfing sites like Hobby Link Japan. I look into the import section of Previews each month with excitement and dread. There's just so many amazing Japanese toys out there. I could fill rooms with them. Well.. fill more rooms with them.

And dear lord I am a trading figure / gashapon addict. All depends on the series, but that stuff is like crack and a slot machine in one.

Meanwhile, series like Evangelion, Hellsing, Berserk, Lupin the III, Trigun and various others have various amounts of good figures out there. Hell, I have a whole shelf of figures of Rei from Evangelion alone. Nevermind various versions of the Eva mechs.

Cool.. got a link? He said, in those tones of boredom and curiosity that send shivers of fear through those who know him... (Honestly, you shave one cat and nobody ever lets you forget it...)

    Cheers

I'm kicking myself that I never got this Gunbuster one. It's 200 bucks, but it transforms like in the anime, comes with a base, a cape, and a bunch of other accessories. Plus I think it has some die cast metal parts.

i've been purchasing most of the 'final fantasy'-related action figures over the last few years. the design work and attention to detail is phenomenal. i've already pre-ordered the new 'final fantasy xiii' figures, as well as the transforming 'shiva' motorcycle, although that's gonna cost me an arm and a leg.
