Toy empressario and sometime comic book creator Todd McFarlane was speaking to MTV Geek at the Toy Fair when they pressed for an update on his promised Spawn movie do-over.
I continue to write a page here and there... we've got a guy waiting in the sidelines who's an Academy Award winning actor who phones every three weeks going "Todd, where's the script? Where's the script"Yeah, where is the script?
The only clues on who this actor might be are pretty slight, and perhaps confusing. McFarlane went on:
He came out to the office, he gave me his pitch, I gave him my pitch and he was like "Huh? Fine, let's do your gig" and the pitch I gave him was that we could then do ten of these for the next ten years and he didn't have to be 22 for the rest of his life.He doesn't mean 22, literally, as that doesn't describe anybody. There is no 22 year old male who won an acting Oscar. So that throws the scent a little.
And he can't mean several of the other winners because they're far from counting as "22" even in the losest metaphorical sense. I'm stumped.
While McFarlane seems to be taking it easy with the movie, just shrugging off that page here and there, he says that an awful lot of work has been completed for a new animated Spawn.
The plan would be to do the movie, bring the movie out and then go back on TV witht eh animation like we did the first time... we've got 90 minutes all set, ready to go, other than just sending it to an animation house. We've done all the voice recordings, we've done all the backgrounds...Yep - the animated show just needs to be animated and then it'll be ready. Well, apart from the post production. No sweat, right?
I'd be fascinated to find out who has provided voices for this new toon. Somebody must know...
