But Kennedy clearly did meet Abrams, and deals are now being finalised. But she also met Matthew Vaughn.
We knew that work was continuing toget The Secret Service set up as Vaughn's next film, and it looked tous at Bleeding Cool that he wasn't moving forward on Star Wars.
But we didn't know how far his conversations with Kennedy had gone.
Well, apparently they went far enough that they talked about casting, and Vaughn pitched Chloe Moretz as the lead of the film.
This doesn't confirm that Michael Arndt's screenplay will have afemale lead, as much as it might suggest it. Vaughn is pretty hands onwith screenplays and it's just as likely, if not more so, that he hadhis own ideas for where a seventh episode of Star Wars should go. Thatmight be where Moretz fit in - in a Vaughn-devised plot.
Or maybe Arndt really is writing up a female lead.
Lucasfilm and Abrams will have to get casting underway soon to keepthe film on track, and so more details about the featured charactersare bound to start leaking.
I would have loved Chloe as a jedi. Still hoping for a female lead in Episode VII. Hailee Steinfeld would be cool if they go that route. What's she been up to since True Grit?
I think a female lead on a guaranteed success like Star Wars would go a long way toward making a female-led superhero movie a possibility. Plus it'd be a refreshing change.
If you Remember in the original Starkiller Story Luke was a girl and the Han Solo\Obiwan characters were mixed. it seems like Georges M.O. to reuse this Now after all these are all being made on his Loose outlines from the 70's
