Default Ron Howard Latest Director Attached To The Graveyard Book

First of all, The Graveyard Book was going to be a Neil Jordan film, a live-action film produced by FX specialists Framestore. That didn't happen.

Then Henry Selick was going to adapt the book, as he had Coraline, into an animated movie. That didn't happen either.

Now The Hollywood Reporter have heard that Ron Howard is in talks to direct an adaptation. Once again, the plan is live action. Will this happen?

There's no writer named - there may not be one, as yet. Neil Gaiman criticised Neil Jordan's script for being too faithful, so at least the new scribe will be afforded license from the start and the top.

Here's the blurb for The Graveyard Book that I repeat every time I get my hopes up, even though it's Ron Howard this time so my hopes are anaemic at best.
Bod is an unusual boy who inhabits an unusual place ? he?s the only living resident of a graveyard. Raised from infancy by the Ghosts, werewolves, and other cemetery denizens, Bod has learned the antiquated customs of his guardians? time as well as their timely ghostly teachings ? like the ability to Fade.

Can a boy raised by ghosts face the wonders and terrors of the worlds of both the living and the dead? And then there are things like ghouls that aren?t really one thing or the other.

Anemic? Howard can do fantasy quite well. It might do his creative process some good to get back to it. If the script is good and Gaiman will let us know if it isn't, Howard should be fine.

Shame, I was looking forward to with either Jordan or Selick. I'll be giving it a miss now.
