First Look At Live Action Hong Kong Phooey And Marvin The Martian Movie Footage - UPDATED
Director Alex Zamm has posted test footage from the in-development Hong Kong Phooey picture and nixed Marvin the Martian movie. As he's done this, it might mean the Phooey film is dead too. Or it might mean that he can't read his contract very well. Or it might mean nothing at all.
The Marvin clip is particularly interesting as it's structured as a self-contained short. And I'm right to think this Phooey voice is being done by an Eddie Murphy impersonator, right? Maybe one of those guys from Hollywood Shuffle's line-up.
UPDATE: Our version of the video has had to go, but here's another copy that somebody cloned from us.
Eddie does have an "official" voice over actor who they use when Eddie cannot do redubs due to scheduling problems. His name is Mark Moseley. He has been the voice of Mushu in most any Disney movie or game outside of the original Mulan and occasionally does Donkey in the Shrek TV specials and games as well. For a test reel they probably used him because it is cheaper but still gives an idea of how well an Eddie Murphy voiced character would work.
Why does Hollywood keep replacing cartoon animals with realistic animals who look very weird, talking and walking on their hind legs? Also, are crotch shots on the "short list" for "can't-miss humor bits to be included on all comedy trailers?"
Both look pretty good actually. But that was a good point, they might be served better going with the cartoon character version of the animal characters and not real animals acting the part. You never watch those cartoons and picture them as a real animal.
