Default Lavish, Stylish Full Trailer For The Great Gatsby, Baz Luhrmann Style

Below is the full trailer for Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby.

Originally the film was set for release this Christmas but Warner Bros. thought better of throwing it up against their own firstHobbit film for box office dollars and 3D screens, so now we'll be getting it in May.

I shall be hunting this down in 3D as soon as I can. There was much talk about the wisdom of shooting a "talky drama" stereoscopically but there's absolutely no reason not to, and plenty of possible benefits.

Also, I think Luhrmann is a visual thinker. He may get his head around 3D in ways that his colleagues and opposite numbers have sometimes not managed to.

UPDATE: Note that I am now using the UK version of the trailer which just promises the film in 2013, not necessarily May or even the Summer. That's not as encouraging as I might have hoped for... Both trailers are the same in all other respects.

Did he add some Nirvana and Bowie and Elton John cover songs?

Damn.. shoulda clicked it before commenting.. nope.. instead it's some grunge industrial cover of The Turtles song 'Happy Together'.

Still have yet to read the novel. Though I swear I read some novel or comic book where characters kept talking about reading Great Gatsby... or am I thinking of some other novel named after a character from around the same time?

Anyway... that 1920s fashion and art deco design is pretty damn gorgeous,

I never thought that Gatsby was really that great of a novel, myself.

I loved the novel and would recommend it to everyone - it's a classic for a reason, and that reason is it's bloody good.

This adaptation though... It's been a long time since Strictly Ballroom and Romeo & Juliet, and Baz's last two films were actively bad, with this not looking all that better.
