Default Dane DeHaan Is Harry Osborn - They Went Moody Mode, Not Jock

A couple of weeks back it looked like Marc Webb, Sony and the Spider-Man team hadn't made up their mind what kind of Harry Osborn they wanted. Now, they seem very sure.

Deadline are reporting that Dane DeHaan has the role. This means they're going for the "dark and edgy" option, rather than "big and beefy."

DeHaan was very good in Chronicle and did just fine in Lawless. I'm sure he'll make a great best-friend-cum-nemesis for Andrew Garfield.

I liked him in Chronicle. He kind of looks like a young DiCaprio. Should be interesting to see what these movies do with Harry.

I really liked him in Chronicle and he will definitely make a fine dark Harry, if that's what they want from character.

What I wonder is if they will also introduce Norman in this movie. I think they should, even if he will only play a minor part, so they can slowly show off his character before he becomes Green Goblin and kills Gwen. Because as much as I'd like for it to not happen, I just can't see the producers not using this powerful storyline for one of their movies.

And in a way it will be a milestone for movie adaptations of comics, like it was for comics themselves. Building up a romance interest of the main character across few films only to have her killed in the end? I can't think of many movie series that tried something like that. Actually, the only one that I remember now is Nolan's Batman, but change of the actress diminished the impact considerably.

When I saw the pic, I thought maybe he was playing Peter Parker in a flashback to Pete's days in grade school.
"I’m a nasty piece of work, chief, ask anybody."
    "You ate the 'ony'!"
"I'm vilifying you for God's sake – pay attention!"
"You look far enough into the future, you're bound to see something you don't like. People forget: we're all programmed to die."
"Have we been here before or are we yet to come?"
"What the Hell is the difference between a painting done by someone who chooses to paint like a child and a child's painting?"

I thought it increase the impact, as Maggie Gyllenhaal was far better in the role than Katie Holmes was.

Wow, this is actually exactly the direction I wanted them to go.

How often does that happen in a comic book movie?

Nice choice, that's what Harry looks like to me.

She was, but with the change of the actress it wouldn't make that much of difference if she was a completely new character.

But if they decide to kill Gwen in the third movie, especially somewhere in the middle of it, to make it different from the usual deaths at the beginning or end of the movie, it should have a really big impact on the viewers.
