Default Helen Mirren And Colin Firth In Line For Sequel To Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

The chief target audience of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel was easy to spot from the blue rinse in their hair. Of course, the same is going to apply with the sequel, so I'm not the slightest bit surprised that Helen Mirren and Colin Firth are "likely" to join up. They make those blue hairs light right up.

Apparently there's also an American actress required to round out the roles in Ol Parker's screenplay - an original, based upon his first film which was, to be frank, also an original, despite ostensibly being based upon the novel by Deborah Moggach.

Roger Friedman at Showbiz 411 nominates Jane Fonda for the American role. I'd prefer Diane Keaton, maybe Swoosie Kurtz.

John Madden will be directing once again, with many of the original cast returning to India. I have a feeling this franchise could run and run. I at least expect a trilogy.

I knew I was too old for my age, but this confirms it.
I liked Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, though it had its flaws.

I liked Best Exotic Marigold Hotel too.
And the only time I've put blue coloring in my hair was when I dressed up as Silver Age Robin for Halloween.

Probably the best movie I saw in theaters this year. Intelligent writing, some genuinely touching moments, with just a couple slightly contrived bits

Nothing about it screamed sequel though.

As an "old person" recently returned from India (last night), I'd like to say that much of Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is based on fact! Looking forward to a sequel and returning to my favourite sub-continent soon!

Why should I invest in this franchise when they're just going to inevitably give it a gritty reboot five years from now?

    I loved this movie.
And more Bill Nighy is never a bad thing.
