Default Zack Snyder On The How And Why Of Man Of Steel's Now-Official 3D Conversion

Well, of course Man of Steel was going to be released in 3D. You weren't it expecting it not to be, were you?

Warner Bros. finally made the official announcement today, and included this quote from director Zack Snyder:
The film is going to be a visually exciting experience in all formats: 2D, 3D and IMAX. Anticipating how audiences today embrace 3D, we designed and photographed the movie in a way that would allow Man of Steel to captivate those movie goers, while respecting fans who prefer a more traditional cinematic experience. We?ve taken great measures to ensure the film and the story come first, and 3D is meant as an enhancement.
Yeah, that's supposed to sound like the optimum, but it isn't working here. This is positioning 3D as some sort of adjunct. I'm a lover of 3D and this is putting me off so I can only imagine what the baying haters will make of it.

The film will be released, in all of its formats, next June 14th.

...Well, I was hoping it would be with Nolan producing. I hate 3-D. Loved watching TDKR in 75mm IMAX.

Have they ever explained the long post-production on this one, since they finished shooting over a year ago, and the movie is only out one year from now? Is there that much CGI involved, or have they run into some kind of trouble?

No the movie was planned to be released in the winter, but WB didn't want to self-compete with Hobbit. But it's going along a schedule as if it was coming out this December/January, which is why it's in post-production for so long.

Thankfully this will be a big enough release that it should be easily available in 2D. Having to wait for Blu Ray to see Dredd because it was only on in 3D round here.

Wow you really did miss one of the best 3D films so far... Dredd was the best use I've seen, incredibly sharp looking all throughout and only dimensional when it really needed to be.

Unfortunately I'd mostly heard the opposite so I didn't bother. I've only had one 3D experience that wasn't just an annoyance (Avatar, which did use 3D wonderfully, shame about the plot. And acting. And the dialogue) so I've given up unless I hear word of mouth good enough to suggest it's worthwhile.

Well, I'm not a "baying hater," but I don't like 3D movies because they're always a little blurry (and much more expensive!) and the 3D never, ever adds anything to the experience. So I don't see how it could ever be seen as anything but an enhancement.
