Default Need For Speed Plot Details As Dominic Cooper Joins The Cast

Patrick Dane writes for Bleeding Cool

Dominic Cooper has started popping up in everything. After a slew of supporting roles in films like Captain America, My Week WithMarilyn, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunterand even getting a starring role The Devil's Double, his star appears to have well andtrulyrisen. Next up: Dreamworks adaption of the Need for Speedvideogame series.

As well as Variety reporting that Cooper is in negotiations, they even spill a brief blurb for the movie. They say that the:
story follows an underground racecar driver who owns a garage that modifies expensive cars to make them faster for racing. Framed and sent to prison when his best friend is murdered during a race, he seeks revenge upon his release.

Cooper will play the other male lead of Dino, an ex-NASCAR driver who uses his connections to the wealthy to create a business rebuilding and modifying supercars. Imogen Poots... is making a deal to play an exotic car dealer who does business with Paul and Cooper.
I think it is probably a safe bet that his revenge is accomplished through racing real fast.

Things seem to be coming together nicely for the project, with Imogen Poots and Aaron Paul already confirmed. Now we will just have to sit back and see what Need for Speed can bring to the table that Fast and Furious hasn't.

A friend of mine loves the Need for Speed game series and has been playing it since Playstation 1. I'd played some on his PlayStation when we roomed together and he even convinced me to buy the newest Need for Speed Most Wanted, especially since it's by Criteron Games who do the Burnout series so it's like Burnout with the real cars Need for Speed uses.

So when he heard a movie was announced... he couldn't believe it.. he couldn't believe how stupid it was. No body buys Need for Speed for its story. There is none. Need for Speed if a generic brand name at this point like Call of Duty. Hell. Even the gameplay varies greatly from sub-franchise to sub-franchise. Many fans hate this new Most Wanted one because it's a Criteron game copying their Burnout series. So even within gaming the name Need for Speed means almost nothing.

Pretty much Hollywood bought a brand name and it has next to nothing to do with the games or the thin. If it has cars in the film, then it can be called a Need for Speed movie.
