Default The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, And Also Four Hours Of Special Features - The Big List

Thanks to producer David Prior the DVD and Blu-ray releases of David Fincher films have some of the most comprehensive and, frankly, lengthy collections of special features on the shelf. And so it is with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, where there's over four hours worth of supplements before you even get to adding in any commentary tracks.

A full suite of video "extras" have been certificated by the BBFC. As you'd expect, there are special sections focusing on the casting of Lisbeth Salander and then getting her look right, as well less immediately obvious pieces on the film's ADR recording and it's unusual metal posters.

But that's just scratching the surface. Here's the full list:

Total running time: 260 minutes and eleven seconds.

I've got a real appetite for DVD and Blu-ray supplements, and I'm glad to see Sony throwing so much support behind them. We seem to be past the golden age, but there are still some hardworking, creative and dedicated disc producers out there, like Prior, and Charles de Lauzirika, and Javier Soto, who are making supplements sometimes more worthwhile than the films they document.

What, nothing about how they did the butchered cat scene? They have everything else. I have to think that the film didn't perform as well in the US because word of mouth about that scene got around and people decided they'd rather not see an explicit scene of the chopped up body of a cat. Not really a necessary scene either as it isn't in the Swedish version of the film.
