Default New Transformers 3 Commercial Plays On Its Oscar Credentials

Transformers: Dark of the Moon has been nominated for three Academy Awards, but as far as Paramount are concerned, there's no competition.

Yes. That's essentially a For Your Consideration promo for Transformers. Sounds like a joke, but I think they've got a point - many of the tech credits on the film are absolutely top notch. If there was also an Oscar for stereography, I think the film would most definitely deserve recognition there too.

Now: let's see the matching Golden Raspberries commercial with focus on the film's less successful elements, shall we? One is bound to turn up soon, surely.

Thanks to Vulture for the embed.

I still havent seen this. Having 40 comics a week to read doesnt leave me much time for movies.

All you need to know is that this movie is "Deep Wang", make of that what you will...

TF3 was one of the most watchable crappy movies I've ever seen. Top notch yet utterly overwhelming special effects with plenty of terrible character development that's very easy to mock. It's like putting your brain in a trash compactor, only in a good way.

I'm sorry. The Oscars should be for actual movies, not tech demos.. even the technical awards. Hell, even James Cameron's tech demo of Avatar with its cut and paste plot was a better constructed film itself then whatever mess of scenes Bay shat out on screens for these Transformers films. I saw the first on on a friend's copy with with a screenwriting / writing major friend of mine. He was even more horrified than I saw. I saw a bootleg of the second one and couldn't even watch all of it. I even went to 'the good parts' and thought they were shit. I can't even imagine the third one. I hear 3/4 of the movie is more human American Pie antics and not goddamn Transformers.

And speaking of Deep Wang, even without the Steven Fetchit twins getting speaking bits, I hear this film still had enough Michael Bay ignorantly placed racial and sexual stereotypes to go around.

So... it shouldn't be the best sound editing that wins, but the sound editing of the best film? What are you actually proposing? Some kind of cut-off point below which films just aren't eligible in any category because they disappoint on certain (admittedly very important) fronts?

Totally agree. As much as I hated the scripts inability to maintain continuity across 3 movies (at least it wasn't RotF's lack of continuity across 30 odd mins) the bits in Chicago were utterly awesome. Let's not talk about the 'character' stuff though.

I've got to find the Peter David Novelization. I bet he patched it all....
