Default Final Trailer For Chronicle - Too Much, Too Late? Or Just In Time?

I've been amazed that advanced buzz on Chronicle hasn't snapped the needle, but it hasn't. A shame, really, because I think a lot of people are going to like this film.

And like it a lot, too.

This final trailer, from the US, comes on the day that the film has opened in UK cinemas. I'm hoping it's been a real hit, and we'll find out soon enough. Those of you in the States get your chance from Friday.

Do be warned that this trailer shows some scenes from later in the story and flaunts some snippets of the climactic set piece.

Spoilers or no, the trailer's soundtrack was pretty grievous, don't you think?

Watched the majority of this through the window at work earlier. I won't give a detailed analysis 'cos most people won't have seen it yet, but it's mostly bloody good, with a few flaws. Well worth a watch.

That looks great!. I always have liked the unexpected spring movies. Like Matrix for example.

I've just read a review and spotted the phrase 'found footage'. Gawd, again?

It's a bit more inventive than the usual. There are some neat tricks that let them use multiple camera angles and avoid shakycam. It's actually more of a character device than anything else...

That's encouraging, Keith, but I fear I'd still find the device/gimmick throws me right out of the film … how stupid are people that they don't put the camera down when they're being attacked by a witch/threatened by a Godzilla thing/battered by a poltergeist-demon?

I prefer properly motivated POV shots, used occasionally.

I wouldn't want to say too much for fear of spoilers (it's not out in the states until tomorrow), but for the most part, the camera isn't actually being carried, and it's really quite key to the character doing the filming. There are a couple of moments where it's a tad forced, (there is more than one person with a camera in places), but largely it's fantastically done. There's a fair bit of footage from security cams and police cars stitched in, too.

Which makes it sound even worse, as if the filmmakers are determined to avoid shots that don't draw attention to themselves.

And is there really a buzz about this film? Apart from lots of BC articles, I've not seen much about it ... and certainly not heard anyone talk about it.

I'm looking forward to The Woman in Black - I love the play, adored the TV adaptation and, er, never read the book. I'm keen to see where the chorus lines of kiddie ghosts suddenly come from.

There seems to be a fair bit of buzz. It was certainly fairly busy yesterday, so people seem to be interested. How well it'll ultimately do, I couldn't say. It's certainly a pretty good movie in general.

As for Woman in Black, the trailer looks interesting enough. I'm sure I'll give it a look.
