Only two nominees for original song? Thankfully one of them was from the Muppets, which should win that one easily.

But 50/50 not nominated for Original Screenplay? You're kidding.

I agree on most bets, but I think Michelle Williams takes best leading actress.

Schiffman over Lubezki for "Tree of Life"? Not a chance.

Lubezki will get loads of votes from DOPs and directors, but I see a "tick everything that says The Artist" move coming from plenty of other Academy members.

While The Artist is undoubtedly a good movie, I think people are letting the successful delpoyment of its gimmick influence their estimation of its quality.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close? Isn't that a laughingstock already? How did that get in there? Is the Hanks-Bullock-9/11 axis really that strong?

Yeah, I'm sure he's fine in Moneyball, but "Oscar-nominee Jonah Hill" does sound very wrong.

How weak were the songs that only TWO made it? Enjoy your Oscar, Muppets.

Glad to see Cars 2 NOT present; it's nice to know that not everything Pixar puts out is an automatic lock for the Animation category. A weak category, anyways; I wouldn't mind seeing one of those dark-horse foreign nominees swoop in and show the likes of Kung-Fu Panda 2 how it's done.

I imagine Paradise Lost 3 will get it, if only because the Academy will see its winning as a triumphant final note to the West Memphis Three saga (and thereby give an Oscar to the director of Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows).

Also, isn't Berenice Bejo the female lead in The Artist? How do you figure that's "supporting"?

A truly awful year for movies, as if any further proof was needed.
