Default Ron Paul Ditches The Wookie, Has Darth Vader's Imperial March For A Theme

Mitt Romney won the Hampshire primary last night, but pulling second place was cause for celebration in the Ron Paul camp. The Republican candidate and Bruno co-star came out to give a kind of victory speech, and was greeted with rapturous applause and hungry, excited cheers. ABC have the video.

But what they don't have is the warm up, when the DJs set the scene by playing The Imperial March from Star Wars. You know it - the music cue from Star Wars that says here comes evil incarnate.

According to The Telegraph (via Movieline) this elicited the biggest pre-Paul cheers of the whole shebang.

That's right: Ron Paul's supporters cheered when he was set-up by stirring association with Darth Vader.

So how are they going to top this at the next one of Ron Paul's rallies? Maybe they can pick up a few tricks from the Nuremberg Rally red books - they're stuffed with ideas on how to make this kind of love-in really go with a swing and get the blood pumping.

In case you never new, one of Paul's biggest supporters in the past has been a Wookie. Here he is.

And where was he at the Vader party last night? It was even in New Hampshire, his part of the world.

I never knew Star Wars was so politically ambiguous.

The Imperial March? That's just purposely baiting Jon Stewart. It must be.

Default Man, I hate my Congressman

Yes, Paul's my congressman. Biggest waste of space/lack of constituent services in the elected body.

My point is this: the Imperial March is every bit as irrelevant as the propaganda of the third reich, but if they're going to just skim the exciting aesthetics of one... why not the other?

Well, that when said with tongue in cheek.

seems appropriate for a racist scumbag, & it makes a good warning!
hopefully Lucasfilm will sue the pant off of him and put a drag to his quest to use the presidency as a platform for the nu-reich.

ABC did the same thing to all the candidates! the real intro was to Tom Petty Wont Back Down.

Ron Paul himself didn't walk out to the tune of "the Imperial March", his staff did. Ron was backed by Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down”.

Damn, I was hoping Paul would use the theme to the 1978 John Carpenter film Halloween instead...
