I'm at BAFTA HQ where they're announcing the five Rising Star nominees for the year. These are the "on the up" actors and actresses who now stand to win the only public-vote prize in the BAFTA film ceremonty.

This year's five nominees have just been named as:

Adam Deacon from Kidulthood, Adulthood and Anuvahood Chris Hemsworth from Star Trek and Thor Tom Hiddleston from Thor, Midnight In Paris, The Deep Blue Sea Chris O'Dowd from Bridesmaids and The IT Crowd Eddie Redmayne (Black Death, My Week with Marilyn and Les Misérables)

As I've said before, and as BAFTA now note in their press releases, this isn't a real "beginner's award." Essentially it's a prize for the hot-and-young actors who haven't already been on the longlist.

I'm now going to try and catch up with a bunch of these hot youngsters to see what they have to say for themselves...
