Publicity For Chronicle Goes Up A Gear - New Trailer, Clip, Image

We're less than a month from the release of Max Landis and Josh Trank's Chronicle, the found footage superpowers film with great advance word of mouth.

But despite the buzz, there's been a relative shortage of marketing materials. Perhaps it was Christmas and New Year getting in the way and slowing things down, but I'm glad we've finally gotten to the next wave - and hopefully there will be another wave in the next few weeks too.

For now, here's a new, shorter trailer, a clip and a fresh image from the film, all of which continue to nicely keep dancing around any big spoilers.

This is looking fantastic. See, this should (hopefully) be the US remake of Akira, in the same way that Cloverfield is basically the US remake of Godzilla. Given that I'll be ignoring the actual Akira remake when it arrives, I'll be very happy to see if someone, at least, can get it right.

It's lovely to get a simultaneous UK/US release date, and I'm with thekeith82 on this one, it's hitting a lot of the right notes. It's absolutely got some Akira hat tips in there, and made me think of Mai the Psychic Girl too, if memory serves. I'm hoping it falls nicely alongside similar style fare like District 9, starting off as very personal before escalating in scale and point of view. Could be a good 'un.
