Default Monday Night Rushes - Yoda, Puss In Boots, Ghostbusters, John Woo, The Hobbit And More

The Phantom Menace now has a CG Yoda, and this new Russian poster won't let you forget it.

Jeannine Seralles has been cast in the Coen Bros. Inside Llewyn Davies. My hunch is that she'll be playing the small role of Lillian. Meanwhile, F. Murray Abraham is negotiating to play the manager Bud Grossman, another short turn in just a scene or two. [Variety]

When Puss in Boots arrives on DVD and Blu-ray it will be accompanied by a thirteen-minute spin-off short, The Three Diablos, directed by Raman Hui. [BBFC]

When the first trailer for your film splits audience reaction into hoots of derision or oodles of unbelieving giggles, you can decided to run and hide, try to toughen up the remainder of your marketing campaign, or... you can just embrace the naffness and know that your best chance, perhaps, is to become cherished like an odd amalgam of Birdemic, Showgirls and The Room. Talking of which, here are two posters for Tarsem's Mirror Mirror:

Pascal Laugier's follow up to the incomparable Martyrs, The Tall Man, is still not with us. Here's a couple of bide-your-time images. [Jessica Biel Central/Dread Central]

Everybody has sent me a link to The National Enquirer but I can't read it in the UK. Apparently, though, Bill Murray shredded his copy of the Ghostbusters 3 script and sent it back with a note that reads:
No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!

It's the "!" that really makes me doubtful. Besides, the whole premise of part 3 is that the old, possibly fat men take a back seat and make funny from there while the new blood run about up front.

This new PSA takes us to The Last Cinema on Earth - which, as it happens, seems to be in London.

Stellan Skarsg?rd has related a charming story of when he was cast in Lars Von Trier's The Nymphomaniac:
He called me a couple of months ago and said 'Stellan, I just want to book you for next summer, so don?t take anything else. I?m going to make a porno film and I want you to play the male lead.' 'Yes of course, Lars,' I said. 'But you will not get to fuck in the film.' I said okay, he said, 'But you will show your dick at the end, and it will be very floppy.' 'Okay Lars, I will be there, if that?s what you?re doing.'

Hang on... isn't that a spoiler? What if we spend the whole film expecting it to end with an erection? [The Playlist]

What do Ryan Gosling, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Deschanel, Steve-O, Alicia Silverstone, Kristen Bauer, Wendie Malick, Bryan Adams, Maria Menounos, and Ed Begley Jr. have in common? They've co-signed a letter protesting McDonalds' torture of hens and chicks.

Jim Henson's Fantastic World is a museum exhibit at The Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, New York. It has just been extended until March 4th. If I start walking now, maybe...? [Artsbeat]

The first three Underworld movies are being issued as a Blu-ray set in the US tomorrow. Amongst the supplements is the anime spin-off Endless War, for which this is the trailer:

The Muppets are starring in a new interactive game experience thing on Disney cruise ships. You can go behind the scenes with them to see how it all works in this video:

Empire have published a newspaper from the stop-motion world of Paranorman (which is to say, it's probably about three inches tall at most). I reckon they should stick 1:1 scale replicas in their print edition.

Peter Serafinowicz is working on a couple of feature scripts. He's writing a big screen version of Radio 4's show from the afterlife, The Other Side, with his Look Around You co-conspirator Robert Popper; and he's working with his brother James, Red Dwarf's Andrew Ellard and Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurtwitz on a Pink Panther-influenced movie for his sketch character, Brian Butterfield. Tres bon bon bon bon bon bon bon. [Chortle]

The first episodes of what they're calling John Woo's 7 Brothers have been premiered on YouTube. I believe Garth Ennis had a hand in this "motion comic serial":

Here's a behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of Madonna's W.E, running to almost 25 minutes. It's sometimes more convincing than you'd expect, but still...

Steve Zaillian would like to direct the adaptation of Nacho Vigalondo's Timecrimes that he has written. The catch seems to be in balancing the cast and the budget - he essentially needs a big enough name for few enough dollars. [Coming Soon]

Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows contains product placement for a stationary company that employs the PM's wife, Samantha Cameron, as a "creative consultant." Sigh. [Independent]

And here's a new image of Bilbo and the Dwarves to see us through to tomorrow night's online premiere of The Hobbit's first teaser. [Facebook]

    Holy swipe file, Batman!
Someone's totally ripping off the Something Awful / internet urban myth and arg (alternate reality game) horry story Slender Man (aka Marble Hornets).

    Slender Man - Marble Hornets

Whether he absorbs, kills, or mearly takes his victims to an undiclosed location or dimension is also unknown as there are never any bodys or evidence left behind in his wake to deduce a definite conclusion. Not much is known at this time, but his objective and habitat are fairly clearly agreed-upon. He has the need to kidnap children, and is seen right before the disappearance of a child or multiple children. He seems to prefer fog enshrouded streets and wooded areas as a way to conceal himself from being noticed. It should also be noted that children have been able to see him when no other adults in the vicinity could, though adults have also been known to see him at times. Children also have dreams or nightmares concerning The Slender Man before their disappearance. A disputed concept regarding the Slender Man is whether or not he can be seen by those other than his victims—many believe that if you see Slender Man then you are a target or prey, though there is no certain proof of this.

Two New Stills From Pascal Laugier's The Tall Man | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

Cold Rock, USA - A darkness hovers upon the town. Children have gone missing over the years, leaving neither a clue nor a witness. Superstitious locals talk of The Tall Man, a legendary, mysterious dark figure who takes children away, never to be seen again.

Julia (Jessica Biel) is a nurse living in Cold Rock who doesn't believe in legends. Until one night, waking up with an eerie feeling, she goes to her son's bedroom and finds his bed empty. Rushing downstairs, she stops dead in her tracks: A huge dark figure stands in the entrance holding her son, David. Driven by pure instinct, Julia rushes after them, willing to do whatever it takes to get her son back. The chase is on and with it the quest for answers. Who is The Tall Man? What becomes of the children?
Gee. Can an open source horror story done across multiple websites and YouTube sue the makers of this film for totally ripping off their story?

Unless... unless... SlenderMan is behind it all...
