Default Asking About Stephanie Brown At A DC Panel Doesn't Get You An Answer But It Does Get You A Kindle

Straight from the DC Digital panel, Kyrax, the Batgirl of San Diego, asked the panel why the Stephanie Brown dress up appearance in L'il Gotham was erased with a hair colour change. DC's Bob Wayne, as ever, avoided the question but Kyrax pushed it. The panel found new ways to avoid it... They just write the comic, they just read it, they didn't edit it then... it was squirmtastic. However, because of her costume Kyrax won today's special prize for asking questions, a Kindle.

Persistence pays off. Look for her at the New 52 panel tomorrow...

Personally I'm amused by DC inability to answer this question. Even when they should expect it.

Helps to be a cute, young girl vs a dude dressed in a Princess Leia costume.

Wrong attitude for customer service or PR.

Stephanie Brown really belongs in a crowdfunding initiative. She has a small audience but one willing to spend considerably more than some larger audiences on all these costumes and waffle shipping, etc.

If you put a Steph Brown comic on the direct market, you'd probably do 60k the first issue and drop down to 30-40k in six months. And end up netting a few thousand after paying talent. If you could put a Steph Brown OGN on Kickstarter, you'd raise over a quarter of a million dollars with the average contribution being $40-50. And after all production and printing, probably net enough to hire an extra editor for a year. And people would thank them for doing it.

Complaints like these are (to use a disastrously bad but accurate analogy) the same as a cow complaining because the farmer isn't milking it. A good farmer milks the cow to keep it happy, even if the farmer doesn't need milk right this second. So it goes with entertainment companies.

Maybe your right, but if it's the same fucking Batigirl cosplayer asking the same "Where is Steph?" question every year, it should be ignored.

If DC didn't always go out of their way to insult the fans of the character much less everytime someone says "We got her in the book/game/cartoon" and then Didio/DC goes "No, she's out" it sets a precedent.

At this point, she's continuing to do it because she knows it pisses them off. And they have to hem and haw because anything truthful they say will come off incredibly misogynistic towards women as to why they don't like her. Because by now we know its far more then "she just doesn't sell".
