Default And Now We Know Who Alice Eve Is Playing In Star Trek Into Darkness Too

Coming Soon contributor Silas Lesnick appears to have been to some kind ofStar Trek Into Darkness press event earlier today. Rather than saving up all of the juice for a full report after the session was wrapped, Lesnick was tweeting as he went along.

Most of the info was to do with Klingons. Here it is, conflated into a single bulletin:
We've seen Klingons! They do have forehead ridges but with ornamental piercings and facial hair out of the original series! There are 14 Klingon characters in the film, but only two have speaking roles and are the only ones to remove their helmets. We're also going to see (or already have in the trailer) the Klingon homeworld, Quo'nos!
So, that'd be the place with all of the yellow and... well, Klingons. They're the giveaway, really.

There was one other point made, and it's the simple, straight answer to a much-discussed conundrum.
Alice Eve's Star Trek Into Darkness character revealed... She's playing Carol Marcus!
And here's Marcus' entry in the StarTrek.com database:
Molecular biologist made famous in 2285 by her planet development process, Project Genesis. In the 2260's a relationship with James T. Kirk produced her son, David.
This casting would seem to mean there's a pretty good chance of Eve sticking around for subsequent sequels though, of course, we're in a new timeline now. Maybe there's going to be no relationship with Kirk, or at least no David.

What a poignant flutter of the butterfly's wings that digression could be.

There are already complaints in social media that revealing this information is some kind of spoiler. I don't think, however, that Marcus' identity is going to be a mystery in the film, or even in subsequent trailers.

And then, at the same time, there are even folk expressing disbelief, thinking that this must be some kind of misdirect by the moustache-fiddling master of illusion himself, JJ Abrams. Also poppycock.

She's Carol Marcus. False, non-mystery dispersed. Next!

I'm still hanging on the idea that Weller is playing Kahn. There's surely got to be some connection here, if this is the character they're going with. Interesting stuff

If all this turns out to be an updated version of "Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan", then Abrams officially has NO ideas

It's unlikely to be that straightforward. Since the events of Space Seed never happened, events would necessarily be incredibly different. Plus, WoK has a lot of thematic stuff revolving around the Enterprise crew being older. Doing that exact plot with the new guys would be sorely lacking in resonance.

That said, I do think it's going to have some relation to Kahn, I just think Abrams is going to use the preconceptions that will generate in the audience to head off in a wholly new direction.

Alice Eve is way hotter than I ever thought Carol Marcus would be. (Meaning no disrespect to the late Bibi Besch, who was an attractive lady.)

If the villain is Gary Mitchell, the movie's version of Carol Marcus could be a composite of the TOS versions of both Carol Marcus and Elizabeth Dehner (Sally Kellerman), the ship's shrink in "Where No Man Has Gone Before." Both Marcus and Dehner were doctors (the latter being the Enterprise's psychiatrist, but still. . . a doctor). And blonde.
