Default Neil Gaiman's Cybermen Storm These New Doctor Who Set Pictures

As reported last week, Neil Gaiman is taking a turn with some classic Who villains in his upcoming episode, The Last Cyberman. The title keeps it singular, but you'd be right to expect the Cybermen will be getting just as plural as ever.

From the following set pictures, as posted to Tumblr, we can get a good look at their redesign. It's looking fairly good to me, and those blank faces are certainly creepier than other recent iterations.

The setting of these scenes is some kind of fictional themepark called Hedgewick's world. After A Town Called Mercy, that makes two episodes in just this series to reflect a distinct echo of Westworld.

Whispy fragments of set report that we were receiving last week told us that this scene ends in a big shoot out between the Cybermen and some kind of militia - which may include the new companion, Clara, amongst its number... or she may just borrowing bits of their uniform, for some reason.

She's a mysterious one and no mistake.

The Last Cybermanwill air in the spring. It is being directed byStephen Woolfenden and features Warwick Davis, Tamzin Outhwaite and Jason Watkins.

Is this what has happened to the "true" Mondas Cybermen? I hope so. Either way they are a nice redesign.

Seems very Iron Man inspired in aesthetic compared to most recent incarnations.

I thought the last design was pretty Iron Man too really. In fact didn't Hitch do them?

    Liking this iteration, good stuff!

I was going to say the same thing. If anything, this feels a *little* less Iron Manish, because the chest circle is slightly de-emphasized.

Every time they unveil a new tweak to the Cyberman designs, I keep hoping that they'll go super-retro/cloth-wrap/body horror, but given the unlikelihood of that happening, I'm perfectly fine with this design.

They look different to me. A wider face plate and different fitting where the bars mount. Not a massive difference though.

So glad to see the Cybus logo gone, and with it that unneccessary alternate reality version and origin.

They're not. The Hitch version had a face plate which suggested angry eyes. These don't have that, making them closer to the original blank expression. Check it out.

This is an excellent re-design and the best yet. I also enjoy how the one on the right in the first picture seems to be picking something off his lapel. Must be the vain, persnickety Cyberman who is persuaded to help the Doctor because of his unexplained feelings for him.
