    Default Surprise Supergirl Credits!

This is how Supergirl #18 was solicited.

    SUPERGIRL #18

    Written by MIKE JOHNSON

Art and cover by MAHMUD ASRAR

    On sale MARCH 20 ?

    32 pg, FC, $2.99 US ? RATED T ?

It?s a new dawn for the Girl of Steel after the nightmare of ?H?EL ON EARTH?! ? Nothing will be the same for Supergirl as she embarks on a new mission that brings her face to face with one of DC?s deadliest villains!

It was published with a new cover. But the same creative team on the front.

    However on the inside...

Frank Hannah and Robson Rocha! And three inkers! Surprise!

Johnson and Asrar are on solicitations for the next three issues. But as we've learned a number of times, solicitations often don't count for much...

This disgusting game of musical chairs where DC swaps out creatots so carelessly is infuriating and is pretty key to what got me to quit reading DC. It seems pretty unprofessional, but at the same time DC seems intent on making it the industry standard. A creative team is just some working schlub to them and they are easily replaced.

Yeah but this specifically feels very Alan Smithee. The writer isn't even a name with a micro blip of recognition on an indy book.

This is why the only DC book I read is Batwoman, and even then they almost got me to stop reading that when they fired Amy Reeder...

Frank Hannah has no other credits, according to ComicBookDB: Comic Book DB - Frank Hannah So yeah, either a pseudonym or some guy plucked off the streets. Seriously, I'm starting to think the line in front of me to someday write a DC comic is getting incredibly short...

Also, note to DC: if Johnson and Asrar are off Supergirl, I'm done buying it.

Johnson was going to be off soon anyway, Michael Alan Nelson is the new writer.

I really like the art on the original cover. A shame they are no longer using it.

Well a writer change was coming anyways with Issue #20 the changeover to Michael Alan Nelson taking over from Johnson....but if Asrar is leaving that will be news.

That said, an artist change with a writer change isn't that uncommon anyways. But I truly enjoy Asrar's work.
