Default First Of The DC WTF Covers Revealed - Jim Starlin's Stormwatch Gives Us A New 52 Reboot?

Jim Starlin posted the full gatefold for Stormwatch #19 on his Facebook page and listed all the characters:
From the upper left hand corner and going clockwise, shown on the cover is Hellstrike, the Forecaster, Midnighter, the Engineer, Apollo, Jenny Soul, the Weird and Storm Control."
He then posted the cover for issue #20:

From this and other comments he's made about that first cover being the last time he drew those particular characters (referring to the left hand side of the gatefold) it looks like they're just scrapping Stormwatch up till this point, and replacing the characters with a Stormwatch from another dimension - which happens to include several of the same characters as before, but in costumes more like they had in the old Wildstorm days, especially Midnighter who is wearing an exact copy of Bryan Hitch's original design for him.

Is this the first post New 52 reboot? WTF DC?

Here's the original issue 19 cover...

So, the only reason StormWatch is not cancelled is because it was part of Jim Lee's contract for working with DC. Because StormWatch is truly awful

Maybe this is the team that disappears when Booster reappears? And he comes back with a new version of the characters more in line with the version everyone preferred?

Or if this is a reboot of Stormwatch already then really BWAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA DC!

I assume the conversation at DC went something like this:

"Fans don't seem to like Midnighter's chin spike. What's the easiest way to change his costume back?"

    "Reboot!"

"That must be easy! You only said one word!"

That last image was never actually the cover to issue #19 either, just a place holder by Will Conrad.

TBH I've pretty much reached the end of the road with Stormwatch & JL.

I think the last time I really enjoyed a Stormwatch comic was Stormwatch PHD with Gage (with JLA it may been way back when Meltzer was writing it) . It's time to stop buying comics just out of habit with the hope they may get better.

Wow. All I needed to see was the tiny eyes in the thumbnail to immediately recognize that as The Weird. And I love The Weird. In all actuality, I was planning on dropping this title, but may stay on for the nU take on The Weird.
Which, honestly, wouldn't throw out TOO much pre-nU since he only had a handful of appearances, IIRC only one outside his titular miniseries.

Have you ever thought that maybe JUST MAYBE this is part of a story?
It is like saying Age of X was a reboot of the X-men.
RELAX. Starlin said when he came on that he had a story that he really wanted to tell -- maybe this is part of it.
No one said this was a reboot or relaunching of any type.
Who cares anyways? If anything, it'll make this book tolerable.

It's Didio. Anyone saying "Reboot" gives him a warm glow...

    Cheers
