Default DC Runs ComiXology Sales Through February For Black History Month

DC Comics have shied away from ComiXology 99 cent sales of late, while Marvel has run regular price drops on Fridays and Mondays.

That change now as DC launches limited sales through February with black-themed comics and characters to reflect Black History Month. Jon Stewart, Black Lightning, the Mister Terrific New 52 series and more are highlighted in these planned sales...

So instead of doing regular sales they've basically spread one of their 101 sales (ok here we have 124 issues) out to last a month.

Not impressed at all. For this to have been impressive they should have added ALL issues of the Jason Rusch Firestorm, all issues of Steel, the original Black Lightning series as well as the rest of the 1995 series. Or how about some of the Milestone books?

Hmm, is Mosaic as good as I've heard it is? This might be a good excuse to give that a shot...

And barely even a bit of Milestone stuff. Way to go, DC.

I'd be curious as to whether copyright issues had any impact on that, since those characters are all creator owned. They've included DCU appearances (those two JLA issues featured The Shadow Cabinet, and obviously the New 52 Static Shock books is in there), so it doesn't seem like they're ignoring those characters entirely.

It was heavily implied by a couple posters in the late, unlamented Ethnocrunching thread that DC no longer has the rights to the Milestone universe. Of course, they refused to (or couldn't) back that up with any facts because they were too far up their own asses to actually respond to people with anything shy of condescension.

For my part, I thought that Mister Terrific series was terrible, but I'll probably end up buying bit for a buck each. I've been meaning to start building a New 52 digital collection one day.

While I'm delighted to see DC making the first six issue of my second (and vastly superior to my first) Black Lightning series available...and will be even more delighted if they pay me for it...I should point out that issue #6 is the first of a three-issue storyline. Two more issues would make my entire second series available...for the first time since it was originally published.

I remember that second Black Lightning series with much love. The art was spectacular and the story was intriguing. And then you left/got removed and the book was almost unreadable. If your whole run was available I'd buy it (I've long since lost the original issues as well as the other 25k plus comic book collection I had pre 2002). It was these issues that got me into the character in the first place and sent me back issue hunting in the mid 90;s for anything and everything BL related for a few months.

Any reason to doubt that you will see payment for any issues sold? Assuming you are entitled to payment based on sales numbers of course.
