Default The DC Writers' Retreat In Charlotte, North Carolina

Do you (still) write a New 52 comic book for DC Comics? Have you got your invite yet? If not, better ask...

DC is planning a large scale writers' retreat in Charlotte, North Carolina in around three weeks I'm told. Dan DiDio and Bob Harras will be in attendance, holkding writers workshops and the like. But I understand that central to the time away will be some sort of big idea.

I don't know what idea that wil be.

There have been some problems vicerally expressed by DC writers of late. Maybe this is an opportunity for healing? I've been given a big man hug from Dan DiDio, they stay with you, you don't forget them easily.

So, anyway. North Carolina. Expect your favourite comic writers to go into silent mode on Twitter for a little while...

This could be a good first step to making a better DC.

Typo, or obscure British slang? With Rich I'm never entirely sure.

Alternatively, unconfirmed rumours that Didio has been seen buying axes, bear traps, shot guns and night vision cctv cameras. Look for "when Publishers go crazy" in cinemas later this year!

Possibly, but not likely. The problems we've been hearing seem to be from things changing often. If they don't stick to what gets planned out at the retreat then having it won't help.

Proper planning and communication are good things - they need this now more than ever.

Just give me a goddam Cyborg book, and don't make continuity make less sense than it does now.

Also, Twilight of the Superheroes crossover retreat?

Hopefully this will happen... but given how much buzz and innuendo that has spread on the issues right now, I'm pretty doubtful that a retreat will do much at this point, especially with Didio and Harras. Time will tell, of course, but I also feel time is running out for both of those two.

I'm really very curious about how much influence Jim Lee has. He certainly played a part in getting Harras the EIC job. He also was at meetings where they discussed Scott Lobdell coming to work for DC (Lobdell mentioned this himself on this site). Maybe he realised that his decisions aren't very good and decided not to mess more stuff up?

Still on the plus side, at least DC are having a large scale meeting as opposed to a few writers getting preferential treatment like Marvel's architects.
