Rob Liefeld has been sharing the art he did for a fill-in issue on New Mutants before hebecamethe penciller on the title, which was fully pencilled and inked but never published. In which he draws New Mutant character Warlock as if he was a Tex Avery Toon. And at one point attempting an inter-company crossover by transforming into the Batmobile.
I wonder, if it had been published, if this would have been kept for the printed page?
Despite some issues with the mouths I actually like this art better than his current work. Of course I've always been a bigger fan of his older stuff than what he does now. Not trying to hate...these are actually some fun pages.
Liefield has got to be the only guy in the world that started out pretty decent, then steadily devolved to total shit. Fairly quickly, too. I still cant think of anything outside his first few issues of New Mutants and a few sporadic issues of X-Force that ever looked good.
Wait... Marvel has a complete Liefeld issue in their vault that they never released, even when he was a hot artist (like they did with McFarlane's issue of G.I.Joe)? Wow!
