Default Is Atlantis Meant To Be Israel? (Justice League And Aquaman Spoilers)

A response that's "ten times harder" and "your people" seem to be the biggest giveaway here, in this conversation with Batman in Aquaman #15 (which you should also make sure you read after Justice League #15).

Or course, another reading may see Atlantis as Palestine. Or Iran. Or the USA itself. Cold War aspects given a new relevance due to international relations in the Middle East.

And then there are the conspiracy theories behind why all these things happen, here given full rein as an an attack on Atlantis is as the result of an unknown error, presumably sabotage, and an engineered war. Which is of course how some people regard the 9/11 attacks and the subsequent actions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

What is more likely is that writer Geoff Johns is drawing on all sorts of reasons and justifications for war to explore the kind of issues it brings up.

While also having big things smash into other big things as well. You know, because of war.

Why is Batman so impertinent or at least seems that way?

and You really can't compare Atlantis to any country really.

Yeah, Batman asking "How do you know that?" when he knows Awuaman was the king and probably designed the war plans himself just seems like a question designed by the writer to provide exposition. Batman would never ask that because, duh, it seems pretty obvious how Aquaman knows they're following the war plans of the kingdom he used to be king of...

I read both the TOA books ahead of time, & he's not really impertinent, just his usually cautious self.

But you are correct, it's really inaccurate to compare Atlantis to any present day nation.

Johns isn't great at writing batman, and that headline made me think DC had actually sunken Israel and made the Atlanteans the chosen people.

Thats actually hot what happened wither. Batlan was more or less trying to see where Arthur's political affiliations lie.

He was fine in JLA but aquaman. Weird. Aslo Ivan should drawn both issues. Justice League will be the main issues get here. Aquaman was good here but didnt really move the story up. We already knew the war is about to start. Also Ocean Master set off those missles. So obvious as of now .I hope im wrong

I know you're just trying to make everyone forget the joke about the little boy with cancer and your ill-conceived attempt at controversy by posting a link to Alex Jones' brand of crazy, but starting a debate about Israel in the context of a comic book with the literary value of a Bazooka Joe comic strip is stretching your already strained credibility. Sometimes fish people attacking the surface world are just fish people attacking the surface world.
