Default Robama Against Manga In This New DC Comics Funded Ad

We've been happy to run A Comic Shop's adverts, approved and 75% paid for by the DC Comics co-op advertising programme - that go a little further then most ads of their type. Especially those mostly paid for by Warner Brothers.

This time we have Cyborgrechristened "Robama", and pushing a patriotic message that you can trade your Japanese manga for American DC New 52 issue ones.

The ad will also be handed out as a flyer... where? Why, at Megacon in Orlando, known for a sizeable anime/manga prescence.

Could this start a bit of a riot?

I really do think that flag is dumb and unnecessary and why Cyborg doesn't have a 6 million dollar man streamline design now is beyond me

In any case that picture made me giggle a little.

Funny, how DC is still bragging about going into all these extra printings, but then they have to deploy cheesy gimmicks like this. An entire volume for one (relatively) content-light comic? Even if you have some manga that you'd like to dump, come on.

Not DC, A Comic Shop paid to have this done. Arguably DC could have refused, but this is the shop's doing. Presumably because they are eating a ton of 52#1s...

That would be "A Comic Shop" doing this, not DC.

But don't let the facts get in the way of a good hate on.

Stupid. When are shops gonna learn instead of alienating people they should embrace other types of medium. Maybe, just maybe, they can get those people to buy comics too.

also, how are shops "eating a ton of 52 #1s" when, if the shop ordered accordingly, they are able to return books that go unsold?

Yeah kids - trade in a manga volume that cost you $9,99 to $12,99 for 180-240 pages for a 32-page pamphlet not really worth the $2,99 they are asking for.

NOT shops, A COMIC SHOP that apparently has bunches sitting there unsold and unreturned to swap for manga.
