DC Comics Gets A New Logo. And Here It Is.

I don't like the blank white space to the right of "DC". That seems like a design snafu.

Well considering how bland/lame a lot of the costume redesigns for the relaunch were, this doesn't really surprise me. They need to get better concept artists and graphic designers over there. Or get someone in charge (i.e. who makes the final decisions) who doesn't have a terrible eye for these sorts of things.

I kind of liked the 'swoosh' but I loathe this "design" -- it looks like it was crowd-sourced and the worst won out, or an CEO with no artistic ability got his/her hands on some clip art and MS Paint. Again, design by committee doesn't produce much of any value. It fails in the most important category of design -- the frigging thing has to be explained. This "design" is iconic in one way only: "Don't let your design look like this, ever."

It's not even half or a quarter clever. At least the 'swoosh' could be adapted to a variety of media. This design, could be, but the screams of frightened people seeing it morph in a theatre would be enough to make "DCE" change it back, against the pleas of psychotherapists' losing new business.

Please don't make this change a reality. It's not too late to say 'it's a ruse to get BC readers all riled up." Retcon Ho!

The logo I can live with but, certainly, 'dull grey' won't be the final color scheme? Because nothing says excitement like 'dull grey'.

I'm pretty sure trademark registrations are still submitted in black and white.

It puts me in mind of some sort of industrial engineering or construction firm, honestly, but I can see it looking better on the books themselves than on the white background here.

I never thought the last logo was bad.
