Default Casting Underway For Teenaged Wonder Woman - UPDATED

Warner Bros. are taking an unusual tack with their Wonder Woman TV series Amazon, getting into casting before they've even given a pilot the green light.

This, EW supposes, is likely because the viability of the show hinges on finding the right star.

Is this a lesson learned from the last attempt to make a Wonder Woman show? Is this decision implicitly putting the blame for that series' lack of commission on Adrienne Palicki?

Officially, Amazon is going to be about the teen who will become Wonder Woman - it's a young Diana series, another variant on Smallville. Does this mean it will all be set on Themyscira?

Cue lots of tall actors in Themysciran beach attire walking up and down the beach. Sure sounds plenty CW-friendly to me.

A casting notice is going to be sent out "soon." We'll keep our eyes peeled.

UPDATE: How soon is now? Deadline offer the following character description:
She comes from a remote, secluded country and until now has spent most of her life as a soldier and a leader on the battlefield.

Because of relentless brutality of her life at home, Iris looks at our world with absolute awe and astonishment. She?s delighted and just as often horrified by the aspects of everyday life that we take for granted: skyscrapers, traffic, ice cream. It?s all new and fascinating and sometimes slightly troubling to her. Iris is completely unschooled in our world, our culture, our customs.

And she?s completely inexperienced at interpersonal relationships. She has no social filter, does not suffer fools, and tends to do and say exactly what?s on her mind at all times. She?s bluntly, refreshingly honest. She can tell when you?re lying to her. And she doesn?t have time or patience for politics or tact because she?s too busy trying to experience everything our world has to offer. There are too many sights to see and things to learn and people to care for.

Hers is a true, noble, and generous heart. And she will fight and die for the people she loves. Iris is a fierce warrior with the innocent heart of a romantic and she will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere.
    Iris? Huh?

Hahahahahaha... either that's the description for something different, or whoever wrote it has no idea who Wonder Woman is. Hilarious.

Wonder Woman should have a movie. She's not mean for CW TV IMO. HBO maybe...

Seems like a valid approach. Wonder Woman does start off naive. "Hers is a true, noble, and generous heart. And she will fight and die for the people she loves." That's spot-on. It fits with Azzarello's WW.

Arrow has been decent. It would be interesting to see two DC shows.

a crappy shoehorned in character that no one will care for but will suddenly appear in the comics like she's important to anything?

    Jesus...

"Iris" is a place holder name. You don't have to send out the casting sides to say "Diana" or "Wonder Woman". Honestly, it's as if you guys are looking to be outraged.

Honestly didn't know. I'm not really up on film industry practices. I know sometimes actors are solicited for anonymous characters, but not that fake names were thrown out - although it doesn't surprise me, seeing as movies often have fake titles during production.
