Could the foldout cover to the current Previews catalogue, debuting the gatefold WTF Cover for Detective Comics #19 make the catalogue an actual collectors item?
The actual covers to the actual comics may not, Previews has a far smaller print run and copies are harder to keep in decent condition. It may be off for a catalogue itself to become collectible, but we've had a spate of that of late with the first Previews that featured The Walking Dead in its listings selling for over $150. And people are getting rather excited by the WTF covers if our traffic is anything to go by...
So what's the WTF moment on the cover? I don't see one.
The fact that they didn't have the balls to make it an actual issue #900, so instead found a shitty way of putting 900 on the cover without screwing up their precious reboot by admitting that DC Comics existed before 2011?
I'm a big believer in 'collect whatever you like',.....but c'mon....Previews?
Well I think there should be one Previews catalog that should be considered a collectible. Because of the inserts stuck to the inside.
It was done back in 92 and while I don't remember the month (definitely during the AzBats run because that was one of the covers) it included bound in copies of an original Deathmate prelude and the Warriors of Plasm #0 but made into an actual comic rather then the card set.
That one I'd consider significant enough to have back issue status. LOL probably not for the actual content in most people's eyes, but in the nature of having original comic stories in there that you really couldn't have gotten anywhere else.
