    Default Deathmatch Profile: Sable

32 Were Chosen. 31 Will Die.

    Introducing... Sable.

A powerful and mysterious supervillain has imprisoned the world?s greatest superheroes, forcing them to fight to the death until there is but one victor. It?s kill or be killed as we settle the score on all those hypothetical superhero match-ups in this new ongoing series by Paul Jenkins (SENTRY, INHUMANS) and artist Carlos Magno (PLANET OF THE APES) with covers by Whilce Portacio (WETWORKS, INCREDIBLE HULK). DEATHMATCH #1 is just $1 and will be in stores on December 26th!

    Here?s How It Works:

This month and next, Bleeding Cool will spotlight DEATHMATCH and each individual character, in conjunction with BOOM! Studios. Characters will be introduced through profile page entries detailing their histories, powers, origins and other key pieces of information. Prior to each new issue coming out, Bleeding Cool will reveal the primary deathmatch along with profiles of the two participating characters with their key characteristic and powers. Fans will be able to post their predictions for the winner of the deathmatch on our message boards. If you correctly predict the outcome of every deathmatch throughout the course of the series, you will be rewarded with a truly exclusive item at the end of the series (along with your favorite comic shop).

    You can pre-order?*DEATHMATCH #1?*at your local comic shop!?*Item code:?*OCT120874.

    Bleeding Cool's Take

Precognitive powers would certainly come in handy during a deathmatch, but one can only avoid a killing blow with no superpowers for so long. I might be at the beach and see the tidal wave coming but, with no powers to get out of the way, I'm still getting crushed by a giant wave. That, and her long cape which is going to get caught on something, tells me she doesn't last very long.

    Your thoughts??*Post your comments?*here.

Look for another Deathmatch contestant tomorrow!

I haven't commented on any of these threads but I just want to say that I think this whole thing is a really fucking stupid idea: introduce 32 characters just to kill 31 of them?

This is a long form in-joke, I believe and Bleeding Cool are setting the stage of the series' total absurdity - I mean THIRTY TWO CHARACTER PROFILES? C'mon. The whole concept of pitting analogs of fan favorites against each other is so 90's indie glut masturbatory goofball that I'm fairly certain Deathmatch will be a comedy book. If that's the case, I'll check it out, particularly if it's making some sort of satirical comment on such popular lines of thought: "Well, Hulk would kill Batman", oh brother. Otherwise, and with all due respect to the creators (the art looks fantastic), it's really kind of embarrassing.
