Geez.. what is worse on that wraparound cover... the giraffe neck or the fact that I think I can see labia.

I never got these bad girl cheesecake comics. Well.. maybe when I was 14 and couldn't buy actual porn. Yet if you're going to make porn, make some damn porn. It ends up seeming kinda lame with this half assed stuff. Though I guess like Maxim, 14 year olds and frat boys too skittish to buy actual porn keep them afloat.

Meanwhile, for all I know this might be a decent book. But I remember seeing Lady Death and the whole bad girl trend back when I was in puberty and reading them for a good story wasn't quite what came to mind when I saw them.

Your observation is completely understandable, Xenos, and that's why writing the series has been such fun for me. The covers are the covers; they're meant to appeal to the baser instincts of a select readership, and that's always been the marketing plan for all LADY DEATH books since the inception of the series. But when I accepted the assignment for the new Boundless series, I took it upon myself to write stories rich in texture and characterization, with as many layers of subplots and subtext as I could manage. It would have been simple to write mindless, "she chops up a bunch of demons then takes a shower" stories, but that's not what I've been delivering, and I've been quite pleased that long-time fans have been telling me they're "reading them for a good story." It's been a challenge to please the die-hards while simultaneously raising the bar, and it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I've had an incredibly fun time surprising people. (I hope.)
