John Layman tries to wriggle out of what he did in Chew #30 to CBR. It doesn't work.

It was very tough, even more so because #31 has a character reveal in it that is arguably every bit a punch in the gut as #30. #31 starts rough as well, it sorta has too, and so I very deliberately tried to come up with the most ludicrously ridiculous case I could to round out the issue, just to move us back into more Chew-like territory. "Chew" will always remain silly, but with #30 we wanted to make sure people knew we weren't completely fluff. We have a story to tell, and it's not all pretty, and, unfortunately, bodies are going to drop. This is just the first.

When you work in comics and help assemble creative teams, the results can be as wildly diverse as the personalities involved. Sometimes, through no one's fault, the match just isn't ideal. But other times, it succeeds in ways that you never imagined, and rewards you far beyond the work itself. That was the case when writer Brian Lynch and artist Franco Urru, who passed away on November 30, joined up for their first series set in Joss Whedon's Angel universe, Spike: Asylum.

Valiant Entertainment has teamed up with long-established collectibles company Rittenhouse Archives to create trading card series and collectors? albums for the Valiant Universe, which includes beloved comic book characters X-O Manowar, Bloodshot, Eternal Warrior, Shadowman, Harbinger, Rai, H.A.R.D. Corps, Archer & Armstrong, Ninjak, and Armorines. The cards and albums are planned to launch in the US and Canada, at Comic Con San Diego, in 2013.

I find that Oovoo ad interesting in that X-Force poster. If you sign up for the free service, you get a month of free access to Marvel digital. That seems pretty deluxe. Anyone know any more about this? Right now the link is dead (oovoo.com/marvel) but I assume it will go live in January when the book actually hits?
