Amazon Glitch: Five Hundred Page Marshal Law Hardcover For £9.59
Now that's what I call a glitch.
It's already at a massive discount on Amazon.com, the superhero-hunting Marshal Law Deluxe hardcover, down from a perfectly reasonable $49.99 to just $28.27, 43% off with free shipping. Many American retailers may be tempted to stock up on those terms.
It's a steal but it's not a glitch.
However in the UK, something has gone wrong with the database. And Amazon.co.uk have the same item listed at £14.99 discounted to £9.59. That's basically $25 discounted to $15. A smaller discount... but a much smaller price. Practically 70% off the US cover price, with free shipping in the UK. Hell, even shipping to the US, this may be worth your while.
That's a glitch. How long it will stay like this, or whether deals will be honoured, I don't know.
I did wonder if they've mistakenly entered the discounted US price as the standard UK price and then discounted that but unless Amazon are offering an exchange rate of £1 ~ $2 it's not that.
Still hasn't stopped me ordering a copy on the off-chance they'll honour it.
Over at the 2000ad message boards we've been onto this one for a couple of weeks now. Selfishly we've been hanging onto it waiting to see if Rich broke it and thus potentially get all our orders cancelled.
Just done a quick check and it looks like Waterstones, WHSmiths, and even Blackwell all have the list price down as £14.99 so are basing their discounted prices on that
I guess either the publisher/distributor has gone nuts or someone's there has made a bit of a mistake in the price list they've sent out to the bookshops.
As Gareth Lewis mentions above the 100 Bullets Deluxe Book 4, which is due out the week before Marshal Law, is shown everywhere with the same £14.99 list price so I'm wondering if all there any other DC Deluxe editions coming out around the same time with similar list prices ?
