Default Temple Run Is Right Now (Possibly) The Best Selling Comic On The Planet

Okay, it is a Tuesday. Tomorrow this might change.

But right now, Temple Run #1 is selling tens of thousands of copies a day. It is the top paid book app for iOS and sales are only increasing. DC just made their line available in this fashion and they don't come close.

Published by Ape Entertainment, the same company which published Pocket God Comics which (and I can announce this now) has just sold a million copies of its Pocket God Comic digitally,?* with 19 issues available.

Temple Run is based on the massively successful (especially in our household) app game which seems to have popularised the "eternal runner" format immensely.

    99 cents. Worth a peek?

I love this game, so I'm at least intrigued to see what kind of story they come up with.

Sorry, this HAS to be inaccurate.
Because, as we've all been told over and over and over and over...
That the DM is the ONLY way to sell comics and digital can't ever work.

This is definitely the way to get people interested in the medium. Take a property they already like and give them a comic about it.

I used to wish there was a "Friends" comic back in the day, just to pull people in.

I am so proud of my friends, former partners, and occasional employers at Ape Entertainment! These guys know how to make things happen. I've seen them dismissed by fans on message boards as a "third tier" publisher, and every time I see it said, I laugh out loud: because of the company's staggering digital sales, these guys are doing sales figures that dwarf most of the books sold by other indie publishers, but nobody in the Direct Market-obsessed US takes any note.

These guys taught me how to find a niche nobody else is exploring and make it profitable (which is how I make my living creating comics full-time despite never working for Marvel or DC), and I'm proud to call them my friends. Brent and David inspire me daily.

Never heard of it. If it's based on a popular app, then I can understand the sales.

Just to clarify- '10's of thousands' is wildly inaccurate for one day at the top but the actual numbers are great and being #1 on the iPhone Book charts (still) means real volume and significant dollars.

I encourage everyone to give the book a chance. Even non-Temple Run fans should have fun with this one!
