Richard Pace: Yeah, you're probably right. I shouldn't make a performance art piece out of something Liefeld did. It is attention whoring, I suppose. For laughs, which is what I attempt to provide on FB to my FB friends. That'll be met with varying levels of amusement, depending on who you are, and if you have a history with me of having blown a close ten year friendship by posting info you were given in confidence on Warren Ellis' Forum as INSIDE INFO FROM RICHARD PACE. Which lead to, among other things, a very strange Bleeding Cool story about Swamp Thing making a comeback in a Plastic Man book I was doing, which came from a speculative conversation that I had with you. Even after your apology, it became hard to trust you again. So I must say, it's difficult to hear about "attention whoring" from you, Dick.

But I gotcha.

I fought hard for my side, lost, and then graciously conceded and congratulated my friends whose guy won. "Hold your heads up and lose like winners," I said to my Republican friends. This pissed Rob Liefeld off. Hm.

Anyhow, congratulations to Obama supporters on BleedingCool. I'm looking forward to a second chance, and making this term a success.

I'm a firm (small 'l') libertarian who would LOVE to vote republican if they could shut up about the religious and social issues. I'm firmly conservative on financial and international issues, but can't harness myself to the far, far right folks. I'm in Indiana and my primary concern was making sure Mourdock lost--his opponent, Donnelly, would be a Republican in nearly any other state, but is a Democrat here.

I gladly vote Republican for those who can shut up on the social/religious issues. I want people elected that will run the business of a government, not the morality they personally feel (or feel that their people want them to feel).

I did vote for Obama, mainly because, once again the Republicans decided to cater to the far, far right instead of the moderates (where most of the votes lie).

Again, though, thank you for being gracious.

I just hoped to steer the conversation back to the OP, rather than the same political argument that's been had, and now won, over the last four years. But I didn't mean to stifle anyone. Have at it!

I think you do raise a valid point. I mean, I'm all for taking defeat graciously and extending a hand, but since I don't follow EVS I have no idea what he posted during the campaign. And he named Liefeld, when Liefeld didn't give a name, but if he didn't react that way, BC would have no story to spin and he wouldn't have the publicity.

I don't follow EVS anymore either. I don't even buy any books he works on anymore, because it's all the same. So I took a look at his Twitter feed. Here's the last one he posted the day before the election:

"Ethan Van Sciver‏@EthanVanSciver: I hope you riot when MITT ROMNEY become President tomorrow, Democrats. We'd love to take your Hope and Change AND tear gas you."

Yup, nothing un-levelheaded about that. Truly fair and balanced.

And the next day?: "Ethan Van Sciver‏@EthanVanSciver: I'm disgusted by my Twitterfeed, on both sides. Everyone grow up. Dems, you won. Be kind about it. Repubs, the country will survive. Stop."

So the point Liefeld made was this: For months, EVS shot his mouth off again and again in true pompious superiority that ONLY what he and other Right-wingers had to say mattered. And when Von Skeeves had his foot shoved in his mouth and down his throat so deep it takes sunlight a month to reach it, he immediately wanted to back off what he said becuase he couldn't cash the checks his ego wrote. Did he do it in a way that was demeaning to EVS? No more so than what Ethan Vomits Socialism was doing for months, except that he didn't actually call him out by name. He basically said "Hey! Industry person who was spouting crap the past few months! Anything else to say?? I didn't think so."

That when Ethan The Cowardly Lion went crying to his fan base to fight his battle for him, as usual. Like usual he only tells them what he needs to to incite them and whip them up into a frenzy. Then feels he has no accountability for what happens next. He's all "Hey. I'm just being mature about things. Can't we all just get along?" And try to back away from the convictions he claimed to have so strongly held while his candidate had a fighting chance. I know he lives in his own little fantasy world, but in the real world there all yellow lines on the asphalt so people can't drive on BOTH sides of the road. That and shooting his mouth off and getting in trouble for it, are traits he shared with Romney in abundance.

EVS has a deluded view of history, so his conciliatory attitude is little more than a farce probably to save himself from being too butt hurt. He's from Utah and lives in North Carolina. He's very Red.

Not true. He won every battle ground state except 1. He got the popular and electoral vote. Plenty of Conservatives had said it was a big defeat - not a slim margin let alone a "very slim margin".

"I'm going to go easy on Barack for a year, and give him the benefit of a doubt."

Oh you mean like how Conservatives should have done that the first time he was elected?

"if he's a big enough man to go to Congress and say, "the last four years didn't work out between us. Let's start over again." And then actually listen, instead of saying , "Well, I won." again."

This is straight-up FOX kool-aid. Congress should always be working for the people. They should have been compromising with a president regardless of their irrational disrespect for him.

Liefeld has no tact. It doesn't even matter if he's right about something because he expresses himself as a douche.

The Republican party had weak, cartoonish candidates, of course they didn't have a chance. The GOP needs to go back to the center and ditch social conservative stances that are very outdated. They've held themselves back too much for too long to the point where intellect is called into question. Their candid comments on poverty and female reproduction just illustrate how deluded their perspective is.
