I've got to agree with Seely's viewpoint. The biggest problem the Republicans faced this election cycle was that, as a party, they've gone completely off the rails. Their only defining characteristics to many are hyper-Christian views, outmoded ideology and social agendas and a complete misunderstanding of the current trends with regards to peoples' personal lives.

Fiscal conservatism's always going to have its supporters, but it's damn near impossible for them to get anywhere when they insist upon tying it to extreme right social conservatism, it's going to have trouble getting anywhere.
