Ugh, nice one DC. This is about milking the Alan Moore cow down to a withered husk, than any respect for the work itself.

Take the Tom Strong oversized hardbacks for example. They released two volumes only - Moore's run - and to date have never released a final third volume to finish it off.

... But of course I'll buy this new one... Damn them

The first two volumes are absolutely brilliant, up there with his best work. The third is a pretty turd.

IMO Promethea s genesis was in Moores work on Glory which was never completed but contains some elements he later explored more fully in Promethea. So makes a companion piece to the work Moore did for Awesome/Maximum/Extreme. (btw he also did stuff for Youngblood and a crossover called Judgement day which are all well worth seeking out ) Supreme is great but its not in the same league as Promethea which maintains its high standard throughout the run and the thing is incomplete if you havnt read it all.

Promethea has the capacity to open your eyes to whole new ways of seeing the world if you'll allow it to and approach it with an open heart/mind.

Promethea is one of the landmark books of the 2000s.

    Thanks again
I think'll you'll be very pleased you did. BTW I'm not much up on Norse mythology but it never stopped me enjoying Thor. You could approach Promethea in that spirit maybe?

Hm, so my continued, inexplicably failure to get this series yet may turn out to be wisdom after all?

I'll want to see an open copy of this before I buy it; as others have already said, the quality and style of the binding will make a huge difference in whether it's worth the price (which I'm guessing will be substantial).

Nah, Promethea is really great, and I can only echo the voices of those who have already praised it in this thread. If you love comics you owe it to yourself to read it.

I hear you. And I think I'm gonna have to give it a try

But I think he was saying he was wise not to buy a collected edition yet - because now he can buy this widescreen hardcover

Promethea starts out wonderfully as this kind of mythic feminine "Wonder Woman done right" kind of thing, and then it becomes a Kabbalah lecture. It's interesting though, but not really one of his best. It gets really preachy and dull.
