Default Alan Moore Sings The Decline of English Murder, And Signs V For Vendetta Masks To Win - Remember Remember The Fifth Of November Part Two

    Alan Moore is releasing a single today, The Decline of English Murder for November 5th with Occupation Records, part of the Occupy movement. The song;
tells the story of the 'English murder' imposed on the people by the greed of the banks and incompetence of the state, and is written and sung by Moore with music by Joe Brown.
It does have a certain Billy Bragg/Jarvis Cocker/MJ Hibbertishness to it. And it costs just one British pound.

The first single to be released from Occupation Records' upcoming second album, the song can be downloaded here and one downloader will win an Alan Moore signedV for Vendettamask. Moore has signed twenty of them - the only twenty he is believed to have signed,

And Bleeding Cool also have one of these Alan-Moore-signed V For Vendetta mask to give away ourselves. It will be picked at random from anyone (not BC contributors or Avatar employees) who tweet a link to this article, uses the hashtag #OpVendetta and also adds @occurecords. It will be picked at just after midnight PT, 3am ET, 7am GMT tomorrow.

Today, thousands are expected to descend on Parliament in a fashion similar to the end of the V For Vendetta movie as part of Anonymous' Operation Vendetta. Here are the song's lyrics...
She sorts out her hair in the washroom at Preston Services

Dries her hands under a notice that reads have you seen this child

And she nurses one tea for an hour in the cafeteria

Watching the truck drivers blind their fried eggs with the cutlery

And English Murder. It's all over her face.

Just waiting until the right time the wrong light boy

    There'll be a photograph

With a bad 1970's fringe and a look of uncertainty

Years later you'll know the name but not where you know it from

And they've emptied the terraced row with compulsory purchases

Reasoning that they'd make more from the ground with the people gone

So he shuffles the half a mile to the nearest post office

When lads push into the queue he pretends he's not noticed them

And English murder. It's all over his face.

A low enough cold snap, a high enough gas bill

    You'll skim the epitaph

And you'll possibly notice his name like somebodies you knew from school

There'll be an off the peg verse where sad has been rhymed with dad

And the houses in which they've invested their City bonuses

Have increased the property prices and therefore the homelessness

And the scabby grey anti-climb paint and withdrawn amenities

In case socialising promotes anti-social behaviour

And English murder. It's all over the place.

The bunches of flowers in pedestrian precincts

Your average psychopath, at least kills with a hammer or brick

and not with greed and incompetence

And after two or three years maybe they'll express remorse.

Don't let millionaires like Alan Moore tell you what to do - he's part of the problem!
