Default Comic Shops Without Their Comics

Not everyone is as lucky as Midtown Comics in Times Square.

One store in Pennsylvania that closed earlier this week due to the Hurricane but opened on Wednesday, has come to the realisation that no one knows where their week's worth of comics are. Diamond shipped most comics by UPS this week, leading to significant delays... but some seem to have lost their week's comics all together.

Over in New Jersey, another store has discovered their comics are trapped in UPS tractor trailers, with no news as to when they may hit the road.

Another in New Jersey tracked their order to a UPS service station in New York without any update.

There is good news... deliveries to affected areas from Diamond Olive Branch using UPS's Virginia services are getting through. For the rest, some are hoping for delivery on Monday. But with the word that Diamond may have to use UPS in certain areas for next week as well, there may be more of this to come.

And of course there are those who still don't have power. And are considering burning comics for the heat...

It's like that old saying: where one burns comics, one later burns people.

So, start with the JMS ones, yeah?

My LCS had no idea where the books were and UPS kept telling them they were coming on time then delaying it a day each time till yesterday the store emailed us telling everyone UPS is delivering them on Monday and then Wednesdays comics will be on time.

er, what is Diamond doing for the retailers in affected areas?

Are they offering replacement stock at cost? Extended billing periods? ANYTHING?

A hundred people died; two million lost power; Aquaman 13 will be a bit late. One of these things is not like the other.

...Let's not forget the Bendis, Millar and Waid ones. The Ellis ones, on the other hand, will be held in reserve for toilet paper, although I suspect there are those in NYC who think Brubaker is a member of the Hack Pack, and will use his works as they see (un)fit. As for the Liefeld books, I suggest they be held in reserve for none other than - you guessed it - shoe lining for those whose feet are exposed to holes in their soles. Ergo, Rob may not be able to draw a foot to save his life, but his pathetic attempts at hacking comics might just save a few feet from being too waterlogged.

And yes, as some of you out there will remember, the reason I got "Stumpy" was due to my feet being waterlogged in contaminated water from a flood. So the concern is valid...

Didn't the fire that devastated upwards of 80-ish homes in the Breezy Point, Queens area early this week start in the basement of a UPS facility?

I doubt many people would buy a comic in that region right now.
