Default Todd McFarlane Recreates Youngblood #1 For Spawn

For Spawn 220, the twentieth anniversary edition of Spawn, Todd McFarlane is doing variant covers aping his fellow Image artists. We've seen his Savage Dragon #1-styled cover, now have a look at his version of Youngblood #1 with a variety of Spawns and Spawnettes.

    The original is below...

Originally the homage covers were incentives for ordering certain amounts of the issue, but Image have had a change of heart, and now the colour versions of all three covers can be ordered in any amount, with the black-and-white versions at 1:25 (Savage Dragon), 1:50 (Youngblood) and 1:75 (Spawn) ratios. So everyone gets the colour cover that they want.

Kinda a bummer, as I was really digging the Golden covers. Not a big deal as long as Szymon Kudranski is still handling interiors though. Love that dude's work.

On the brightside, Todd appears to be going ham on these, so that's cool.

It bugs me that these really aren't a slight nod or subtle pastiche. He just jams spawn in to covers done by others.

That's the point? Just like every other parody/homage cover.

That's awesome! Originally DCBS had the Dragon for $15 and the Youngblood for $30 on advance order, but now they've dropped them to $2.39!

Sounds like Image crunched the numbers and realized most shops can't move enough regular issues of Spawn these days to justify upping their orders just for an incentive cover or two.

    That's actually quite awesome.
The had on the Kombat Spawn analogue is the best!

Also of note: Spawn appears to be holding a giant wrecking ball as a reason to hide feet.
