I'm not sure Rich deserves all this opprobrium; it's surely been clear enough to anyone who's been following Punisher Max for the last year or so that it wasn't going to end that well, for anyone concerned.

I absolutely agree that issue 22 could have come to a more satisfactory conclusion, but credit where credit's due; it's Jason Aaron's lousy writing that's at fault, not Rich's.

Yeah, except for the fact that the writing of this issue was strong, as it was with most of the second volume. And again, just because a story is heading in a direction, doesn't mean its ok to spoil that ending with no warning at all. Cause its not. And he did.

So just because it 'might' have been obvious that the series was going to end with him dying means that it was ok to post a spoiler image? I heartily disagree. So then, for the future, when we know issues are coming up when someone is going to die or something that has been building up for awhile is going to occur, it is ok to publish not just some pages from the book in question but actual spoiler panels.

I'm not usually one to bitch about spoilers on the internet because I do go to many different comic sites and pick and choose what I care or don't care is 'spoiled' for me. And almost all sites do post some kind of warning about spoiler info or images. For some reason this has been a problem here historically. This has not been the first time.

I really don't care if we all 'knew' the series was heading to Frank's death. To post that panel with zero spoiler warning or whatever on the front page on new comics day is still a complete dick maneuver.

Hmm...I've been hunting down some info, and...are we sure he's actually dead? Last August, Aaron said:

This is the culmination of the Punisher/Kingpin story, but it's not my last story on the book," the writer said. "There are definitely plans in place after this next arc, but I can't talk about them without spoiling what's coming up.
In November, when the end of the book was announced, he tweeted:

PUNISHER MAX is ending, the way I always intended it. It was not canceled.
Following which, Marvel issued a statement saying:

A big change is coming to the MAX universe and nobody can miss what we’ve got coming.
So...maybe it's not as cut and dried as the picture appears. Sounds like there's a pretty heavy implication that more is to follow. Maybe wait to read the book before you start screaming cunt at the top of your lungs, eh?

Except that at the end of the issue he wrote a page-long essay giving his reasons for killing Frank and described how the series began with his collaborators. Maybe wait to read the book yourself before being uninformed, eh?

Dude, there's no 'might' ... He dies at the end of the previous issue.
This is the eulogy ... And is where (as i understand it) Fury becomes the punisher to keep people honest.

What happened to that lady punisher in the max series? She dead?
Stop telling me how things should be, I'm just some cunt on the internet.
Get up, move to a table without the internet, and do something about changing it.

Not putting spoiler tags on the post was an oversight, sure, but it in no way justifies some of the bile that's been spewed at Rich over the head of it. One minute, somebody's calling you a cunt, a fucking cunt or related, and the next they're putting flaming dog shit through your letterbox it seems, in this wonderful world of interconnected on-line activity.

It's not on, guys. If you hate Rich and his site as much as some of you seem to, there's a simple, obvious and elegant solution that might be best for everyone concerned.
