Default McFarlane, Golden And Silvestri Covers For Darkness #100

The Darkness #100 is on its way... And this is the first you'll have seen of the Todd McFarlane (above), the Michael Golden (below) and the Marc Silvestri retailer incentive (further below).

48 pages for $4.99 US, it's out the last day of February. But since the Darkness II game comes out today, it seems the perfect chance to show them off.

    Default Golden is...golden!

The man still has it. His cover is far and away the best of this bunch. Superb draftsmanship & energy.

Golden's is actually the last one, so I'm thinking Rich might be off there.

Oh, and Golden is still amazing. I would love to see him do interiors on something again.

    These are all beautiful.
    I love 'em all.

Todd's been inking again of late, probably because Szymon is also working on Penguin for DC. I like the art; it's the glacial pace that's getting to me.

I can't believe this series is at issue 100. I remember buying the first 2-3 in a little collection and really not liking it. I haven't tried it since.

It's taken three volumes and two relaunched Darkness #1's to make it to 100.

Witchblade, on the other hand, just reached #150 having never been relaunched or renumbered.

Oh, so it didn't really make it there after all. That's too bad.

I remember at the time I was buying everything Garth Ennis wrote. I hated The Boys too, but I'm pretty sure The Darkness is the worst thing he's ever put his name to.
