Default Swipe File - Voltron Vs Transformers

On the left is the cover to Voltron #1 by Eagner Reis. And certain Transformers fans saw similarities with a certain representation of Optimus Prime as seen in the Transformers movies. And pointed out the highlighted bits below for comparison...

In Swipe File we present two or more images that resemble each other to some degree. They may be homages, parodies, ironic appropriations, jokes, coincidences or works of the lightbox. We trust you, the reader, to make that judgment yourself. If you are unable to do so, please return your eyes to their maker before any further damage is done. The Swipe File doesn?t judge, it?s interested more in the process of creation, how work influences other work, how new work comes from old, and sometimes how the same ideas emerge simultaneously, as if their time has just come. The Swipe File was named after the advertising industry habit where writers and artist collect images and lines they admire to inspire them in their work. It was swiped from the Comic Journal who originally ran this column, as well as the now defunct Swipe Of The Week website.

Micheal Bay ripped stock footage from other movies is it surprising anyone would rip off his shit?

I know there was that shot in the third one during the freeway chase, but since that was used rather than reshooting a scene where a stuntman died and since Bay took it from one of his own movies (it was The Island, wasn't it?), I don't think it was especially objectionable. Are there other examples? I haven't followed the story that closely, so if he was doing it all over the place that's a bit different.

Still, the Voltron artist isn't exactly ripping off Bay here, since I'm guessing he didn't personally design movie Optimus, nor did he create the render that the guy is swiping from.

Bay has used other footage from other movies also and I know he's not the only one to use his own movies, I'm not objecting using stock footage in general my dislike for most of Michael Bay's movies, they suck "Deep Waaaaaaaaaaaang!"

Yeah, the theft makes Voltron's legs look weird for no reason - much like the overly detailed movie Transformers.

It makes it look even weirder that he has the over detailed Transformers ripoff bits but the other parts are still super blocky like the old toys/cartoon.

What's worse is that Reis really kind of wrecked some of the basic design elements just to make it look like a rip off. I get what he's going for, but really, how's Yellow Lion supposed to stand up on those spindly little legs?
