Diamond Creates New Awards For Comic Stores

Diamond Comic Distributors is launching a new award, for comic book stores, to be presented at the Diamond Retailer Summit before C2E2.

The Best Practices Awards will be given to the stores who win the following;

Best Window DisplayBest Counter DisplayBest New Comics SectionBest Graphic Novels SectionBest Kids SectionBest Toys SectionBest Movie or Themed BoutiqueBest Out of the Box Game DisplayBest T-Shirt DisplayMost Improved Retail Display

Retailers who wish to enter need to send in photographs along with a written statement, and retailers will vote on successful nominations at the Summit itself. Winners will receive an engraved plaque.

I do hope Page 45 enter for window display...

I think this a good thing.

Alot of comic book stores are poorly run and put very little effort in presentation within the store. They seem to commonly default to freebies from publishers for decor......which I find ironic that a creative industry is displayed in the most un-creative stores. Isotope Comics being the exception in SF.
