Default Both DC And Marvel Top For Marketshare In January - But DC Takes All The Top Ten

The Diamond Comic Distributor statistics for January will be released soon, and you can expect some kind of update then.

But Bleeding Cool can tell you two things now. That DC Comics have taken the top unit marketshare for January, the number of actual comics sold. While Marvel have taken the top dollar marketshare, for the revenue raised.

So both DC and Marvel are top in January. Everybody wins!

However, also of note, I'm told by numerous sources now that in January, DC Comics have a lock on the Top Ten sold comics of the month.

Despite the launch of Scarlet Spider from Marvel, the 300th issue of Wolverine and the X-Men/Avengers lead ins, every book in the Diamond Top Ten for units sold, is a DC comic book.

I guess the DC doomsayers are going to have to wait for another month for their glee at DC failing to be realized.

I hoped they weren't gambling on Scarlet Spider to be their big book for the month. I mean it's good, but really, how many people are going to buy Scarlet Spider? 50k tops?

I loved the original TOP TEN series... thanks for sprucing this article up with a graphic from it.

They'll just claim Marvel's smarter by keeping the book's prices at $3.99

    Yeah, this is Ike's dream.

It's when they lose both he'll start to worry, and sack some more employees.

Is the dollar share based on the cover price, or on the price charged to retailers?

As far as I know, it's based on cover price, as it's meant to reflect the industry's gains for the month rather than simply the publisher's profits.
