Default Chris Weston Takes On Brian Bolland For 2000AD

Chris Weston's work has often been compared to that of Brian Bolland. The detail, the hard blacks, the feathering, the desire to portray as much as possible without feeling cold, hard and stiff.

And, as what may be one of Weston's masterpieces, to stand alongside The Filth, continues with the publication of The Twelve #9 yesterday, here's a look at a cover for the upcoming thirty-fifth anniversary issue of 2000AD...

And the cover to the US comic 2000AD Monthly #1 by Brian Bolland that inspired it, all courtesy of the 2000AD cover blog.

And here are some monochrome versions...

    Stunning.

An awesome piece of work; so weird to see D'Isreali's Stickleback drawn in a 'realistic' fashion yet still as grotesque as intended. It's a disgrace that he wasn't allowed to do the covers for The Twelve; hopefully he'll be responsible for the art for the mega-deluxe-oversized-collection. Would love to see him or Sprouse on any new 'new' Watchmen books.
